Knitting Tips - How do I bind off?

Starting at the beginning of the row, knit 2 sts loosely, then pass the first over the second. This leaves 1 st on your right needle. Knit the next st loosely, and pass the old one over it. Continue across, knitting all the stitches loosely, and then passing the old stitch over the new stitch. When you get to the end, break off the yarn and pull the end through the one remaining stitch.

To bind off in ribbing rather than in knitting, knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as you come to them, and pass the old stitch over the new stitch as usual. So, if you were working in K1 P1 ribbing: Knit the first st, purl the second stitch, and pass the first st over the second. Then, knit the next stitch, and pass the old st over the new one. Purl the next st, and so on.
